A Storytelling Visit!

Three storytellers from Third grade came to our class to share three folktales. Two of the storytellers were former students and one was Chase's brother! The stories the boys told were, a South African story-Why Do Dogs Chase Cars, a Portuguese tale-The Tortoise And The Hare and a Brazilian story-How The Beetle Got His Colors. Our class enjoyed listening and learning about the folktales and loved having the "big kids" visit us!

Fun with Oobleck in The Outback!

In honor of Dr. Seuss's  birthday, we read and did several activities connected to his books. The last Dr. Seuss book we read was,  Bartholomew and the Oobleck. The book is about young boy named Bartholomew, who must rescue his kingdom from a sticky substance called "Oobleck." Our class went out to Legacy's outdoor classroom (The Outback) and experimented and played with Oobleck!

Science Fun!

Students learned that gases can dissolve in a liquid. But, the gases escape when you release the pressure that holds them.

December Information

Our class will celebrate our holiday cheer by watching Frosty The Snowman and eating tasty treats next Friday, December 18th.

Also, on Wednesday December 16th our class will have the opportunity to visit the ABC Holiday Shop during our lunch period. This is a easy and affordable way for students to buy gifts for family members. There will be a flyer and envelope sent home tomorrow in your child’s folder with all the details.

We have started Kindergarten winter literacy assessments!  I cannot stress enough how important it is for your child to know ALL their letters and sounds, including the sounds for the digraphs- Sh, Th & Ch. Other important skills that can be practiced at home are rhyming and beginning sound awareness. Please take 10 minutes each day to work with your child on these skills, it will help ensure that they are on track to become successful readers!

November Update

Hello families,
With all the learning we did on pumpkins, Mrs. Pickett and I decided it would be fun for our classes to make pumpkin pies tomorrow! We are making individual sized pies that are a no bake recipe.

Student Council is collecting canned goods for Legacy's annual food drive through Dec. 18th. If you are able, please send in canned goods with your child. The class who collects the most cans will win a pizza party! Our school is also collecting hats, mittens, scarves and gloves for children in need through December 14th.

Please send in a white, 1 or 2 inch 3 ring binder with front a clear front cover pocket for your child's Kindergarten portfolio.

There is no school the week of November 23rd for Thanksgiving break.
