Kinder Fun!

This week many of our activities are connected to the classic children's book Brown bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? By Eric Carle and Bill Martin. Students are writing beginning sounds, words and labeling pictures about Brown bear.  They are engaging in centers that practice retelling and ordering when the different animals appear in the book. We are also identifying and practicing writing numbers.

In addition, We have been singing, learning poems and writing about colors. I loved seeing all the hard work and creativity that went into the color homework page! On Friday, we will experiment with primary colors to create secondary colors with paints.

Next week we will begin our Apple Study. For a couple of weeks, students will study and write about apple parts, learn different vocabulary words, i.e. tart, harvest, deciduous, etc. We also will be sorting, tasting and doing several math and art projects connected with apples. Then, we will make applesauce!

Yesterday, we had our first shelter in place tornado practice drill. Our class went into our large walk-in closet and waited patiently while classes were checked to make sure that all students and staff were secure in their designated space.  I was very impressed how calm and cooperative our class was!

I have sent out a Volunteer calendar. Please let me know if you would like to be added to it to volunteer this month.

This Saturday is the Miner's Day run! Please consider walking or running in this fun family event. Proceeds will benefit our school! I've attached the link below:
